Bored? Then Start Thinking.

With all the things available to us now like smart phones, cable tv, broadband internet, game consoles, etc., it’s really hard to believe that we still get bored.

But thinking about it, I guess the reason is that, most of the things available to us now are what you could consider as no brainers. Not really a bad thing mind you, a certain amount of senseless fun I believe is required in life. But the act of thinking I think has become a forgotten source of fun. I mean, can you tell me a modern riddle? My point exactly.

But after seeing Big Think, all the philosophy talk with while drunk with equally drunk friends made sense now. Post a life changing, perplexing question (If you can choose to put another eye somewhere in your body, where will you put it and why?) and have people upload a video of themselves and their answers.

Another approach is that users can post their own life changing questions and moderators can pick from those questions which one will be featured on the site that people can post their answers to. The best answer and question will maybe win a prize or something.

As this article in Squidoo about 23 Cool Ways to Conquer Boredom says we are now engaged in a challenge to keep our mind alive. Answering quirky questions will not change the world, but it sure as hell will save us from boredom.

  1. Hi,
I too agree that in spite of all the means of entertainment, people still tend to get bored. Struglling with precisely the same kinda sutuation, I came across http://www.the3iportal.com, a websitesite into collaborative ideation and open innovation. We come across silly ideas in our everyday life but you can really share your ideas and post your requirements of ideas on the poratal.
Am sure that portals like this has a better entertainment value.

  2. Hi,
As I mentioned before, http://www.the3iportal.com is the only site working on ideation and innovation over a large range of categories. There are sites like innocentive which is into selective ideation catering only to scientists and doesn’t have much of an entertainment value. In fact the3iportal is started by me and as I mentioned before, we came across the idea last year in February.
I would request you to join the site and start some ideation activity.

    Santosh,
